St. Louis Hockey Tournament Provides Fun And Funds For Needy Students
St. Louis, MO (ContentDesk) August 11, 2005 -- St. Louis tournament will provide fun for participants and money for scholarships.August 26-28th eight teams will be cooling off at the Summit Center Ice rink in Chesterfield. Their goal is to score a few, and raise some money for the Michael J. Daehn Scholarship Fund.

"This is a chance for some of the guys to get together play and raise some money for my Dad's scholarship fund," said Daehn, one of the tournament's organizers. "My Dad loved sports and I think he would be excited about this tournament."The Michael J. Daehn scholarship fund was started this year and plans to award its first scholarships this Fall. "The tuition scholarship is open to any student," said Daehn. "All they have to do is apply and write an essay about servant leadership.

I have been setting aside money and hope to add to the amount we can give to students this year."This tournament promises to be an improvement over some recent events in the area. "We have played in a couple of local tournaments put on by people who don't live in St. Louis," said Greg Hausman the co-organizer of the tournament. "The problem is those people don't know the teams

and players, which often leads to mismatched play." Daehn and Hausman were able to add extra games, provide better jerseys, t-shirts, trophies, giveaways and still cut the price. "Our goal is to have some fun with our St.

Louis friends playing hockey, not to just get their money," said Hausman. "Plus we can make a few dollars for the scholarship fund at the same time, it's a win for everyone."The tournament, called Puckfest, has eight teams in two divisions and will be played at the Summit Center Ice Rink in Chesterfield. "Since I know most of the players, I was able to place teams in either the upper or lower division," said Hausman. "This should provide better match-ups and be more fun for everyone. Plus, two teams have a chance at the championship."More information about Puckfest and the Michael J.
