Allergies: Variety Galore

If you are thinking that allergy is only a simple disease, you may be quite wrong. You may be afflicted by only one or two types of allergies. This may lead you to feel that are limited to only those types. However, if you take a look around and see other people suffering from various other you will soon realize that are definitely not as simple as they sound. You will be flabbergasted to know the variety of the types of that occur.

Allergies can be roughly classified under three different categories. Almost all the varied kinds of may be place under them. Let us take a look at the three different categories and the types that come under them.

Inhalant allergies

It is not always necessary that you have to be outdoors to inhale substances that you may be allergic to. These substances are airborne and may occur even indoors. You may be allergic to the scuff of animals like cats and dogs. Formaldehyde, rubber, molds, newspapers, pollen and various other articles may also be allergens. All these may lead to hay fever and cause effects like, sniffing, heavy head, headache, sneezing, etc. If inhalant tend to take a more serious turn they may even lead to asthma.

Contact Allergies

This category includes skin that may be caused due to contact with certain substances

or even due to insect stings. The various substances that cause contact could be nickel, sulfates, cosmetics, henna, metals, synthetic fabrics and various other things. Skin inflammation and itching are common signs of contact allergies. Such may lead to hives or even serious ailments like atopic dermatitis that can be chronic in nature.

Food Allergies

If you feel an inflammation or an itching sensation in your mouth or food pipe after you have eaten a specific food you may have developed an allergy for. Troubled breathing, difficulty in swallowing, vomiting, etc., are some symptoms of food allergies. Similar may be caused due to the intake of certain drugs too. Certain chemicals in these drugs may make your immune system react abnormally and thereby cause allergies.

Once we know the things that we may be allergic to we can take preventive measures by avoiding inhalation, contact or consumption of those allergens.
